I used the star to earn double reputation, but when I donated 50s and completed the gladiator quest min rep didn't double and also when I completed the gladiator collection for 250 rep it didn't double either and my star stayed. how much reputation do you normally get for beating the Gates of Death Colosseum Gladiator

You only get double the Rep, from battles or blood fights, not quests or collections.
To make the most of the start build up a lot of blood fights, do hardest fight 1st and activate start just before fight ends, then do as many as you can in 30 mins.
