It could be some of your operating system options that are regulating the sounds depending on which device is plugged in, simply save the in-game sound to lower levels.

I've been using the in game and saving them. I don't know what else to do. I even lowered my master volume on my computer, and other things I can't remember off hand.

When I slide the in game control volume down, and save...there is no difference. I'd appreciate anything you could do for me. My husband sits on the sofa from across the room, and can still hear the game coming through my headphones, that's how loud it is. He yells at me to shut off the game because (his words) "I'm trying to watch tv! *&^%^#!" lol

Could someone help? It also happens on my husbands acct, and he is on another computer.

I'm guessing you tried to lower all the sliders. does the issue with lowering sound still persists if you try to lower it in different browser?

yes, I tried all the sliders. I even muted the sound (in game), but it didn't work at all. I only have google chrome, I lowered it there, and that didn't help either..I don't know what to do. There is a medical reason with my husband, that he can't take the sound so high that he can hear it across the room (with the headphones plugged in over here), plus, it is very very loud, even with headphones plugged in.. Please help if you can. If not, I understand, I just don't know what else to do.

Try downloading Mozilla Firefox and see if issue persists, also make sure your chrome browser is updated to latest version.

You could also try the mute in bottom left of screen to cut all sound, for a while.
Sound setting are stored in cookies so you could have a problem there, so as Ihit said a different browser may help, if you want to keep using current browser try removing it completely and re-installing, make sure you have a 2nd browsers 1st to download your prefered one.

on a side note, having that much volume going though you headphones could damage them, so it worth muting for now if you can.

Also as DBM Bones already mentioned, due to fact that game options are stored in cookies make sure depending on which browser is being used - that it doesn't delete them when closing browser. For example if using incognito mode they would reset every time.
