Not receiving hunter mastery

I used to receive 1 hunter mastery for each carcass I carved whether it was in a trap or not. Now I rarely get any hunter mastery when I carve carcasses. Was there a recent update limiting hunter mastery?

The higher you get, the less likely it is to earn mastery. Do the daily hunter quests for reliable mastery or complete collections (costly though) to receive 500 mastery per completed collection. Also, hunting palars will increase the chance to earn mastery as well as increase received resources by 5-12%.

Your best bet is to do quests :P
