I have a dragon quest where I need to use valterna to finish killing a slag. What are they and how do I get them to complete this quest?

I use iPad only. I have a spike tail but I cannot throw the spike ball with a concussion or splitting . I don't see on the iPad app where you can do this. Anyone else experiencing this?

What do you calculate to determine your overall damage rate on your equipment? You equipment might say between 13-19. But overall damage rate would be something like 90-100. So what makes up or how do you calculate the damage rate? Ty
